Patrick Sherry, PhD.

In addition to his role as a Research Professor at the University of Denver where he has taught psychological assessment to doctoral level psychologists for over 20 years, Dr. Sherry has consulted extensively with Fortune 500 companies throughout the US and Canada and Asia in the areas of executive assessment for selection and development. Evaluating top leadership teams in the financial services, insurance, and manufacturing industries to identify and further develop those teams and contribute to a return on investment has been his primary focus. In addition, he developed an assessment center for use with a large consumer products company and validated an assessment battery for selecting and hiring team managers in a large manufacturing company. He regularly advises organizations on the identification, development, and utilization of selection and assessment instruments. He recently completed a study establishing the portability of selection tools from one organization to be used with executives in a large retail company.

At the international level, Dr. Sherry has successfully competed for grants and contracts from business and government for his research on the development of assessment programs, training materials, as well as the evaluation and assessment of work performance. In addition, he has worked with a number of companies in several industries, both locally and globally, including:

Dr. Sherry has worked in both Europe and Asia, consulting on hiring decisions, assessment instruments and practices, and the development of executive training programs with private industry and government. He was an invited speaker at a recent conference in Toronto on the topic of the identification and development leadership characteristics of successful executives. He has trained and consulted with executives in Jakarta, Singapore, Shanghai, Korea and Bangkok.

He has served as a consultant to the consultants for almost 20 years training and supervising psychologists and consultants who have worked with Drake Beam & Morrin, Center for Creative Leadership, Personnel Decisions Inc. (PDI), Summit Leadership, AIM Executive, Eclecon, Osprey Consulting, Whitehead Mann, , Right Management and most recently BeamPines. He is licensed as a psychologist in both Colorado and New York.

Most recently Dr. Sherry co-authored a study on the workforce development needs of professional in the transportation industry.

Dr. Sherry addressed the US House of Representatives' Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure earlier this year and identified five major challenges facing the US transportation system. He has also worked in both Europe and Asia, consulting on hiring decisions, assessment instruments and practices, and the development of executive training programs with private industry and government.

Previous research on the factors that affect the pursuit of careers in transportation, with particular attention to the recruitment of female candidates resulted in a number of questions.
